Germaine Mildred Hoelscher, 85, of Rowena, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
She was born on April 4, 1937, to Matt and Mary (Kubenka) Kalina in Praha, Texas. On July 14, 1956, she married the love of her life, Victor Alphonse Hoelscher in Rowena, Texas. Together they shared 55 years before his passing in 2011. Germaine was very involved in her church parish at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas. A member of the Christian Mothers and Friends of Olfen School, she was known as a very active quilter and part of a quilting group that met regularly, but also embroidered and crocheted when she could. She also worked as the business manager for the local car dealership that eventually became Toliver Brothers for over 40 years before her retirement. Germaine was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who always put her family first.
Germaine is preceded in death by her parents Matt and Mary Kalina, her husband Victor Hoelscher, her brother Bennie Kalina, brother Sydney Kalina, brother Harry Kalina, and sister Alice Gleich.
She is survived by her three sons, Rick Hoelscher and Judy McKinney of Ballinger, Galen Hoelscher and Leslie of Talpa, Scott Hoelscher of Lubbock, Texas, and a daughter, Denise Zak and husband, David of San Angelo; grandchildren, Amanda Hoelscher and Mark Foster, Aaron Hoelscher and Amber, Stephen Hoelscher and wife Michaela, Bryce Zak and wife Lexi, Shelby Anderson and husband Lorenzo, and Emily Hoelscher; and great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Raelye, Heston, Emree, Kynlee, and Addison. Germaine is also survived by her siblings, Valeria Hoelscher and husband LeRoy, Marcel Kalina and wife Annie Lois, brother-in-law Stanley Gleich, sister-in-law Clara Kalina, and sister-in-law Betsy Kalina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held for Germaine on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 6:00 pm at St. Boniface Catholic Church, her Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Olfen Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice, in Germaine’s name.
