Glen William Fisher, 64, of Rowena, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
He was born on February 26, 1958, to Alton William and Mary Martha Bubenik, Fisher in Ballinger, Texas. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School until it closed and graduated from Ballinger High School. He worked at Runnels County Gin alongside his grandpa Fisher, dad, uncle, and brothers. When the gin closed, he began working as a farm hand, and finally for the last 17 years at Sklenarik’s Smoked Meats as a meat processor. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing softball in Rowena. He also loved hunting, fishing, and scratching lottery tickets, looking for that big winner. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan unless they weren’t playing good, then he fussed about them. Glen was a quiet, gentle, shy guy until he got to really know you. You could frequently find him having a cold beer at Lowake Steakhouse, where he enjoyed the company of all the staff and other friends. While working at Sklenarik’s, he was the “young kids” favorite person to work with and pick on, but his favorite two people were MarLon and Chel’C Rankin. He considered them his family.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents Alton and Mary Fisher, and his brother Sam Fisher.
He is survived by his brother Alan Fisher of Rowena, Texas, brother Frank Fisher and wife Donna of Ballinger, Texas, and his sister Marla Sklenarik and husband Paul of Miles, Texas. Glen is also survived by his nephew Regan Fisher of Ballinger, and his niece Danielle Nieto and husband Dominick of Ballinger, Texas. He will also be fondly remembered by his great nieces and nephews Dominick Jr., Madilyn, Adrian, Mariah, and Sophia. Also left to cherish him are the Talamantes and Sklenarik families.
A visitation for Glen will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Lange Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and his funeral service will follow on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 10:00 am also at Lange Funeral Home with Gary Karschner officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Rowena, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may go to a favorite charity, in Glen’s honor.
