Goldia Mae (Jones) Kilpatrick

January 10, 1926 — March 10, 2022

Goldia Mae (Jones) Kilpatrick, 96, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

Goldia was born in Baird, Texas on January 10, 1926, to Joseph Edison and Esther Adella (Eubanks) Jones.  She married Everett Kilpatrick on November 15, 1945.  She was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger, Texas.    Her passions in life were her children and their families, music, and sewing.  Learning to play music at an early age with her sisters, on instruments from Sears Roebuck and a used piano, she continued playing all her life.  Although she couldn’t read sheet music, she would listen to a song and then go sit at her piano or pick up the fiddle and play.  Along with her music, she had a great talent for sewing.  Being able to look at a picture, cut her own pattern, and then make the item.  Having three daughters, she made all their clothes while they grew up, including twirling uniforms, prom and wedding dresses, hats, purses, and many more items.  She continued making items for grand and great-grandchildren until recently when her eyesight and health started failing her.  She was a devoted employee for 47 years, through three generations of Dankworths, at Dankworth Packing in Ballinger, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her second mother Leta Smith Jones, her son James Kilpatrick, and her daughter Leta Jolene McBurney.  She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Jo Esther Jones, and Dorothy Chittum.

Goldia is survived by her daughters Louise Sumners and her husband Ronny and Robin Burgess and her husband Jonathan.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Paul, James, Jodi, Tyler, Nolan, Leah, P.J., Kevin, Devin, Samantha, and Zachary, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger, Texas on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 1:30 pm.  The visitation will be held prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Admiral Cemetery near Baird, Texas.
