Grady Campbell, Sr., 78, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021, at his home in Ballinger, Texas.
Grady was born on April 27, 1942, in Ballinger, Texas to Mallie and Lyda Campbell. He enlisted in the US Army in 1959, serving 6 years. Upon returning home from the Army, he began his civilian careers, first as a carpenter, then moving on to become a fireman, then joining in the law enforcement field in many capacities in different places, and finishing out his career at TDCJ when he retired from the workforce in 2010.
He loved to fish, handle his roosters, and just being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallie and Lyda Campbell; wives, Jane Campbell and Lucille Campbell; brother Darryl Campbell; and step-daughter Meagan Dearman.
He is survived by his loving wife and wonderful caregiver, Jan Campbell; children, Richard (Kathy) Campbell, Robert (Brigette) Campbell, Machelle (Ricky) Walters, Malissa Campbell, Grady Campbell, Jr, and Nathan (Bernadith) Dearman; and daughter-in-love Denise Acosta. He is also survived by his grandkids, John Luke, Tyler, Rachel, Bryan (Cassandra), Robert, Jr. (Brittany), Taylor (Seth), Stephanie (Heath), Kallie, Kallen, Destiny, Vanessa, AJ, Vandon, Anissa; nine great-grandkids; and siblings, Barbara (George) Witte, Sue Vessel, and Rodger Campbell; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
He didn’t want to leave us because he loved us and because we loved him, we had to let him go.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ballinger Community Center at 200 Crosson Ave, Ballinger, Texas on Saturday, February 20, 2021, starting at 3:00 with a meal to follow.
