Jackie Duwaine Isham

April 23, 1951 — August 3, 2024

Jackie Duwaine Isham, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on April 23, 1951, in San Angelo, TX to Jack Dalton and Nina Jane (Bennett) Isham. Jackie married the love of his life, Nancy Wenetschlaeger, on December 2, 1972 and celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Jackie held several jobs throughout his life but he found his passion when he started working for the United States Department of Agriculture. He worked tirelessly as a Federal Meat Inspector until he was injured on the job and medically retired. His sharp eye, strong work ethic, and dedication to ensuring the safety of meat products made him a respected figure among his colleagues.

Jackie was preceded in death by: His parents, brother Michael Isham and mother in laws, Bernice Wenetschlaeger and Madie Wenetschlaeger.

Jackie will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Nancy Isham of Ballinger, his daughter Heidi Sargent (Chris) of Ballinger, his grandson Zachary Sargent of Ballinger, brother Lynn Isham (Sharon)of Kerrville, sister Cheryl Isham of Miles, father in law Jack Wenetschlaeger (Joan) of San Angelo, brother in laws Malcolm Wenetschlaeger (Sam) of Abilene and Terry Wenetschlaeger (Patty) of Abilene.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Farryn Burkham (Logan) of Abilene, Ashley Earl (Zach) of Kerrville, Jason Gentry of Miles, Randy Gentry of Miles, Wade Isham (Christa) of Big Springs, Quaid Wenetschlaeger (Katie) of Michigan.

His nephew, Jason Gentry, donated his kidney to daddy. Jason became a hero to us that day because without him, we would have no kidney, no chance, and no daddy. Jason, from every depth of our soul, thank you for giving us more time with him.

Daddy was an avid hunter and would hunt to give meat away. He worked with a group that took children hunting. He turned our horse trailer into a deer blind so handicapped children could have somewhere to call their own and hunt. Daddy loved playing guitar and was mostly self taught. He was a member of the Doghouse Band and they would play at churches and nursing homes. He was also an avid dog lover, hence why he had 5 dogs. He would name them right away and then have to keep them (Rip, Reba, Rosie, Ruby, Raven). His love was endless, especially for his favorite person, Zachary Logan Sargent. When Zachary was born, he knocked his mom, Heidi Sargent, right off of her pedestal and took over the top spot. That was his little boy and he made sure to show him off whenever he could. He was so so proud of his family and was there for all the big moments to this point in our lives.

Rest in paradise, Daddy, your work on earth here is done.

In celebration of Jackie's life, a memorial service with visitation to follow will be held on August 17, 2024 at 11am, at the Glory Road Cowboy Church in Ballinger, TX. We invite all friends and family to join in a celebration of his life.
