Janice “Jan” Mae (Ayers) Kurtz, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, March 14, 2025 in her home in Yukon, Oklahoma.
She was born March 28, 1947 to Dick and Minnie Ayers in Ballinger, Texas. On September 2, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart Bobby Kurtz, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. In 1978, they departed from Texas to reside in Yukon, Oklahoma where she spent the rest of her life making memories. She spent her time being a homemaker, working in the Yukon community, and volunteering for Yukon Mobile Meals. Additionally, she enjoyed spending time at the family lake house in Eufaula, fishing, chatting up the neighborhood, and spending precious days with her family. Her highest calling and greatest accomplishment in life was not only raising her children, Jason and Alison, but being “Nani” to her grandchildren Ashlyn, Jadyn, Ayers, and Addie. She was loved by many and as many of you know, she never met a stranger.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents Dick and Minnie Ayers, her brother Richard Ayers, and her sister Kay Tinkler.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Kurtz, children, Jason Kurtz and his wife Ashley, and Alison Basler and her husband Jeremy. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren Ashlyn Crutchfield and her husband Cale, Jadyn Basler, Ayers and Addie Kurtz as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
