J.B. Fuchs

August 16, 1945 — March 15, 2022

Joseph Bernard (J.B.) Fuchs passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas.  He was 76.

J.B. was born on August 16, 1945, in Ballinger, Texas, to Joseph (Jody) and Anne Fuchs.  J.B. lived in Runnels County and in particular the Olfen area his entire life.  He married Ethel Jost on July 25, 1965, in Rowena, Texas.  They enjoyed 56 years together.

J.B. was a farmer and rancher.  He was a member of the Olfen School Board for 50 years, and he and Ethel attended numerous School Board Conventions throughout the state.  J.B. served on the Parish Council at Olfen for several years, along with serving on the Parish Fall Festival Committees.  J.B, was a member of Friends of Olfen, catering meals for the community, and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 59 years.

Those preceding him in death were his parents; his two brothers: Kenneth (Bernice) Fuchs and David (Joan) Fuchs; and his two sisters: Annalene (Dutch) Hoelscher and Rose (Bernie) Kasberg and their children; nephews: Kevin Fuchs and Shawn Fuchs; niece: Glenda Powell; sister-in-law: Mickey Mathis; and brother-in-law: Danny Zly.

Survivors include his loving wife Ethel, nieces; Maryette (Elvis) Schmiedekamp, Annell Werner, Donna (Jim) Hawes, Janet (Mike) Ward, Elaine Fuchs, and Michelle Fuchs; nephews: Doug (Robbie) Fuchs and Roger Fuchs; his sisters-in-law: Barbara (Rudy) Hohensee, Arlene Zly, Betty (Wayne) Lehr, and Theresa (Ronnie) Beach; brothers-in-law: Burnell (Lisa) Jost and Charles Mathis.

Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Boniface Church in Olfen.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Church with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla celebrating.  Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
