Jerome “Jerry” B. Egan, 88, of Ballinger, Texas went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2024.

Jerry was born in Ballinger, Texas on August 10, 1935, to Tom and Mabel (Moore) Egan. Jerry grew up on a dairy farm and learned the meaning of hard work at a young age. After graduating from Ballinger High School in 1954 Jerry enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for 9 years. On March 5, 1960, Jerry married the love of his life, Marilyn (Watkins) Egan. Together they shared 55 beautiful years until her passing on June 12, 2015.  Jerry retired from Ballinger ISD in 1996, After retirement, he found a love for funeral service; working for Rains-Seale Funeral Home which eventually became Lange Funeral Home where he worked until the age of 82. Jerry was known for his award-winning pecans and his quick wit. “Jerry Jokes” are something that his family will pass on for generations. Jerry had a love of farming and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and many fishing trips throughout his life. Jerry was a member of the Ballinger Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years and served on the Ballinger Memorial Hospital Board. He was also a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he served as a member of the Parrish Council.  Jerry was a man of many trades, but his most important titles were “Dad” and “Grandaddy.” The countless hours spent on the driveway and barbecuing for his family will forever be cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn Egan; his daughter, Rebecca LeeAnn Egan; his sister, Anne Hermann; his brothers, Tommy and Danny Egan; and his twin brother Mike Egan.

Jerry is survived by his son, Patrick Egan and wife Christy Young-Egan; his grandchildren; Slade Egan and wife Hannah, McKenzie Clift and husband Brent; and Bailee Egan and Ivan Tirado; his step grandchildren, Justin Riley and wife Emily, Jessika Henson and husband Ryan, and Taylor Young and Blaine Hughes; great grandchildren; Rylee, Paisley, Brazos, Parker, Branson, Ellie, Bryce, Emery, Steeley, and Blakelynn.
