Joe Stephenson

Joe Leonard Stephenson, 90, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.

He was born October 17, 1932, to Chester and Carmon (Moore) Stephenson in Hockley County, Texas. After high school, Joe served in the U.S. Airforce, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service. He married Loretta Whitehead on January 1, 1963, in Westbrook, Texas. In 1963, they moved to Ballinger where he owned and operated the Custom Cover Shop until he retired in 2005.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers E.H. Stephenson, and Welton Stephenson.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; son Scott Stephenson of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Kim Shephard and husband Rod of Mansfield and grandchildren, Christian Shephard and Brandon Shephard, of Mansfield.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5:30-7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 am, at First Baptist Church in Ballinger. Interment will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.
