Larry Robert Lange

January 24, 1948 — December 13, 2023

Larry Robert Lange, 75, of Lewisville, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in his Lewisville residence after a 5 plus year courageous battle with cancer.

Larry was born on January 24, 1948, the oldest of two children in Ballinger, Tx. to Robert William Lange and Juanita Francis Jonas.  Larry was a rancher and lover of all animals from an early age and often stated he liked cows better than he did people.  He was an avid hunter and had fond memories of hunting all kinds of game including elk, wild hogs, deer and “shooting 500 birds over ole Babe” his prized bird dog.  He talked often of working with a government trapper where they spent a lot of time shooting his favorite rifle, the 22-250.  Larry loved mentoring young shooters and there have been many young people take their first deer under his guidance.  Although he did not have any children of his own, he loved kids and was “Uncle Larry” to a lot of them.  Larry retired from GTE/Verizon in San Angelo where he was also known for his country and western dancing.  In his later years, Larry found passion in woodworking, arts and crafts, antiques and wood burning with some contraption he found on YouTube made from old microwave parts.  Although probably not the safest method, he made a lot of beautiful items with it.  One of his favorite projects was burning old pool sticks that he used to play pool with a group of great friends from Lewisville and the surrounding areas including Russell Garcia, Pat Young and Dave Dennison.

Larry is survived by a sister, La Cheryl Lange of Ft Worth, Texas and many cousins including Scott and wife Dana Lange of Ballinger, Texas, Dennis and wife Jacque Lange of Kerrville, Texas, David Lange of Lubbock, Texas, Debra Tucker of San Angelo, Texas, Doris White, Buddy Stokes, Joyce Spreen, and Julia Spreen.

Larry has been “Uncle Larry” to the Crawford family for 40 years and will be greatly missed by Chris and wife Misti Crawford of Roanoke, Texas, Shane and wife Chelsea Crawford of Lubbock, Texas, Clint and wife Melissa Crawford of Glenrose, Texas and David and wife Kim Crawford of Oklahoma.
