Linda Lee Knox

Linda Lee Knox, 74, of Bronte, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on December 28, 1947, in Ft. Worth, Texas to Alfred Carson and Velma Lee (Moore) Hammer Jr.  In 1971 she married the love of her life, Larry Dale Knox, in Ft. Riley, Kansas, and together they shared over 38 beautiful years before his passing on July 13, 2009.  Linda was a lover of many things, but her greatest love was her grandchildren, especially her Gideon.  She was a very devoted mother and grandmother, but a firecracker to her core.  If west Texas became a person, it would be Linda.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Velma Hammer Jr., her loving husband Larry Knox, her brother Alfred “Sam” Carson Hammer III, and brother Gary Hammer.  As well as her beloved bulldog “Diesel.”

She is survived by her sons Loren Christopher Knox and wife Stacey of Eros, Louisiana, and Larry Knox and wife Anita of Salesville. Arkansas. Linda will be most dearly missed by her grandchildren Gideon Knox, Shelby Smith and husband Luke, Lane Toutges, Jaxson Hibbs, and Nicholas Knous.  She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Hammer of Bronte, Debra Hammer of Ft. Worth, and brother Ron Hammer of Ft. Worth, as well as many nieces and nephews and her best friend Margie Holloway.

A graveside service will be held for Linda on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:00 am at Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Angel Foundation, in Linda’s honor.
