Linda Sue Willberg

September 16, 1950 — January 16, 2020

Linda Sue Hubbard-Willberg was born on September 16, 1950, in Camden New Jersey. She passed away after a long fight with liver cancer on January 16, 2020, in San Angelo Texas.

Linda spent most of her life in the bay area particularly in Martinez and Antioch California. In the 1970’s Linda studied to become a nurse however her ambition was halted after she sustained a head injury that left her unable to work. This did not stop her from being kind to others and she would often provide a meal and a roof over the head of those who were homeless and in need of shelter for the night.

In 2004 Linda moved to Siskiyou County in Northern California to be closer to her family. Linda thought very highly of family and was extremely close to her sister Mary. Linda was very affectionate with her children Dottie Willberg and Julie Styers. You would often find Linda at Dottie’s side. The bond between them was unbreakable, as was the love for her grandchildren. She would never let a call or letter end without saying she loved you and wanted to visit soon. Linda and Julie would often get into never-ending I love you more’s on the end of a phone call. Linda was a wonderful pen pal and wrote her daughters often.

Linda wrote to Dottie on August 25, 2012;

Dear Dottie,

I promised I would write you a letter. I get up at 9:00 AM. I have 3 cups of coffee and a bowl of cereal. I listen to the TV and put it on the music channel and wake up for the day. It is quiet here. I like it here. It is really peaceful. (Deer Creek Apartments, Yreka California)

Julie came over yesterday. She does my in-home care while she goes to school. I am very glad Angelica wants to visit on her next break from school. I pray for you every night so you can have an easy time and stay strong. I love you very much. I miss you and will call you.

Love to you, mom (Linda Willberg)

Linda was not simply just a kind-hearted person. She was known most for her sweet and funny sense of humor and her child-like personality. If asked by her family you would hear that she was the “favorite of the family” or the “favorite aunt”.

Linda loved to write poems, listen to music, read her bible, enjoy a bloody mary or a cocktail, and watch old gangster movies such as The God Father and television series, The Sopranos.

In October 2019 Linda was very excited to leave California to move to Winters Texas. There she was loved and cared for by her niece Mindy. Linda and Mindy would talk often of creating a vegetable garden together. While Linda loved to attend church, she was not affiliated with any church in particular. Linda was given a conditional baptism before she passed.
