Margarite Annie Wheeler

Margarite Annie Wheeler, 90, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

She was born on November 21, 1930, to Adolph Victor and Annie (Kruppa) Schwertner in Rowena, Texas.  On June 28, 1950, she married the love of her life George Franklin Wheeler at St. Mary Catholic Church, and together they shared 43 years before his passing in 1993.

Margarite was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and dedicated much of her life to service there.  She was a member of the Altar Society, and spent a great deal of time cleaning the rectory for the priest, and as a CCD instructor.  Margarite loved to garden, especially vegetables, and was responsible for starting the downtown Ballinger farmer’s market.  Above all things, Margarite’s favorite times were when she had her whole family together.  Nothing brought her joy like being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Margarite is preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Annie Schwertner, her husband George Franklin Wheeler, and her son Robert Wayne Wheeler.

She is survived by her sons Charles Raymond, Steven Royce, and Michael Coy, and her daughters Carolyn Sue, Debra Lynn, and Teresa Michelle.  Margarite is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be held for Margarite on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 6:00 pm at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home, and her Mass of Christian Burial will follow the next day, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger. Father Yesu Mulakaleti will celebrate the Mass.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Margarite’s honor.
