Marilyn was born to Alvin and Elsie Redman on July 6, 1934.   She was raised in the Runnels County area and graduated from Miles High School. She married Edgar Rudell Poehls on August 5, 1952 and they raised four children in the Rowena and Miles area. As a young wife and mother, Marilyn worked at the Ballinger Shoe Factory and Lowake Steak House before working forty-five years in San Angelo for McCarley Plumbing Company. Marilyn was a charter member of the Miles Young Homemakers, a member of the Miles Eastern Star, a board member of the Rowena Protestant Cemetery Association and served many years in the Miles PTA and as a room mother, supporting her children in their activities. She loved watching her children, and eventually grandchildren and great grandchildren, participate in sports, dance recitals, and other school activities. Marilyn was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, but her real pleasure came from watching her two sons play Little League baseball and her husband, Edgar, coach their teams. Marilyn loved traveling, especially to Laughlin, Las Vegas, and Wendover with Edgar and her family. She took her first cruise with family members in the summer of 2017, turning 83 while in Jamaica. Marilyn was an excellent seamstress and creative designer and painter, especially of bluebonnets. Marilyn was a member of the Greater San Angelo Craft Guild and not only participated in their events but also traveled all over the state of Texas displaying her hand made items. She loved working in her yard, gardening, and growing unique plant and floral varieties. Marilyn loved participating in the Miles Cotton Festival and all of its festivities and many times, housed her grandchildren and their friends during the weekend of the event. In later years, she operated a small boutique in downtown Miles, displaying many of her hand-painted items and clothing she had designed and sewn.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Elsie Redman, her husband, Edgar, and her brothers in law Bill Gibson and Jack Parker. She is survived by her four children, Ronda Mavrode and husband, Art; Diana Treadaway and husband, Philip; Jackie Poehls and wife, Belinda; and Rocky Poehls and wife, Patti. She is also survived by her two sisters, Alva Gibson and Patricia Parker, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
