Mary Frothingham Malatras, 92, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Baycrest Assisted Living.
She was born on April 4, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to George and Delia (Mangan) Hogan. As a young woman, she worked a CalTex in New York City, where she met the love of her life, Jack Frothingham. They married in April of 1958. They had three children, Patty, John, and Celeste. Jack passed away in December 1979.
Mary later married Ted Malatras in March of 1992. Their combined families provided years of loving support and cherished memories. Ted passed away in November 2018.
Mary is formerly of Centreville, Virginia where she was an avid golfer at Chantilly Country Club. She was also a member of St. Timothy’s Church in Chantilly, Virginia. Later, she lived in Locust Grove, Virginia where she played golf at Lake of the Woods Country Club and volunteered at St. Patrick’s Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, as well as her brother John Hogan and sister Winnie Kennedy.
She is survived by her brother George (Annette) Hogan; her children, Patty (Max) Long, John (Cindy) Frothingham, and Celeste Frothingham. Also, her grandchildren Susan (Zach) Joseph, Sarah (Chris Ross) Long, Megan (Ryan) Webb, Briana Frothingham, and Ian Frothingham. Mary will be dearly remembered by her great-grandchildren, James, Addison, Jack and Rylee Joseph; Jayden, Luke, Cooper and Conner Webb. Mary also had several nephews: Rick Frothingham, Ed Frothingham, Pete Frothingham, Greg Hogan, Chris Hogan, Brian Hogan, Tom Becker, Pat Becker; and a niece, Jacqueline Moran.
A rosary for Mary will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, 6:00 p.m., at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 15, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia.
