Mickey was born on July 14, 1951, at St. John's Hospital in San Angelo, Texas to Alfred and Annie Jost. She came into this world with her twin brother, Burnell.  Born into a family with 5 girls already, the story is her dad was kidded about finally having a boy, but to get the boy he had to have another girl!

She worked for Rollwitz Welding and Mechanic Tractor Shop in Rowena, until being employed by GTE in San Angelo. She married Charles Mathis on October 9, 1976, in Rowena, Texas, and they had 45 years together. She moved to the Lubbock area with her husband and then to Abilene. It was after moving to Abilene she had their son, Bryan in 1980, whom she loved dearly. While making a home for her family, she worked for Cargill Animal Nutrition 21 years before retiring.

Mickey came from a Christian home rooted deep in faith. The two main anchors in her life were family and church. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools, graduating in 1969. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Mickey had a servant's heart, always putting family and friends first. She was a member of Holy Family for 41 years where she became involved with religious education, Ladies Share Group, Scripture Study, the Fallfest committee, and was on the church's annual pledge drive committee, known as "The Pony Express". She was chair of the funeral dinner committee which prepared meals for families who had lost loved ones.

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Daniel Zly.

Mickey is survived by her husband Charles of Ovalo, son Bryan, daughter-in-law Tiffany,  grandson Hunter of Miles, brother Burnell Jost(Lisa) of San Angelo, sisters Barbara Hohensee(Rudy) of Miles, Betty Lehr(Wayne) of Wall, Arlene Zly of Lometa, Ethel Fuchs(J.B.) of Olfen, and Terri Beach(Ronnie) of Sand Springs, Ok.
