The family of Naomi Joy Dillon of Miles, TX is saddened to announce her passing on 24 August 2021 at the age of 92 years.
Joy was born August 10, 1929, in Chambers, Oklahoma to Frank and Osie (Barnett) Grubbs.
She graduated from South Eastern Oklahoma University with a degree in elementary education and went on to teach at several different schools before ending her tenure with San Jacinto Elementary in San Angelo, TX.
She married the love of her life, Richard Dillon on December 24, 1949, in McAlester, OK.
As a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, her profound faith in Christ allowed her to share her carefree spirit with all those around her.
An avid reader and cooking enthusiast, she enjoyed volunteering at the local library and sharing recipes with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Osie Grubbs, her eldest son Larry Wayne Dillon, four sisters, and five brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Dillon, her three children: Andrew Dillon of Chestertown, Maryland; Patsy Middlebrook (Steve) of San Antonio, Texas; and Tony Dillon (Pam) of Miles, Texas. Joy treasured her eight grandchildren; Tonya Andersen of Dallas, Texas; Scott (Stephanie) Dillon of Dallas, Texas; Bryan and Jennifer Dillon of Clearwater, Florida; Austin D. Dillon (Samantha) of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; Denee Pavese (Rob) of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Bryce Middlebrook of San Antonio, Texas; Regan Dillon of Miles, Texas along with six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on 9 September 2021 at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Savanna, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Joy's name.
The family wishes to thank the ICU doctors and staff at Shannon Medical Center for their compassionate care.
