Pamela Jo Maresch

Pamela Jo Maresch, 74, of Ozona, TX, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX, on July 31, 2022. She was born on October 23, 1947, to Lawrence and Pauline (McDonald) Schneider in Great Bend, Kansas. She married Daryl Mai on August 26, 1966, they were divorced in 1975. She married Myron Maresch on August 13, 1981, in Great Bend at the family farm.

Pamela grew up in a rural farming family on the plains of central Kansas. She was proud of her heritage and where she was from. She had fond memories of attending elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse, helping her dad in the fields, helping with the chores, and working beside her mom in the kitchen. Pamela graduated from Great Bend Senior High School and attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Pamela was the 1965 Barton County Kansas Wheat Queen. Pamela worked in various retail positions throughout the years. She resided in Kansas, Colorado (the mountains were always special to her), and Texas.

Throughout her life there always seemed to be a whirlwind around Pamela. The neighbors would always joke that they knew when Pamela was the one driving to school because there would be a cloud of dust as she roared out of the driveway. She had a gift of getting people involved in whatever project or event that she was working on and her strong will and stubbornness would see it through.

Pamela was a fiercely loyal friend and family member who had a loving and caring heart. She was always thinking of how she could help others.

Pamela was always making birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and parties special with her thoughtful, decorative touches and beautiful cakes and mints. Pamela also inherited her grandmother’s talent for needlework. She loved to cross stitch and make quilts for the family.

She loved growing flowers and gardening and was an active member of the Ozona Garden Club. She also was a member of the Ozona Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

But the titles that were the most dear to her were “Mom,” “Grandma,” and “Grandma Ranch.” Pamela loved her family and was so proud of her children and families.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and one nephew, Doug Schneider. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years Myron Maresech, sons; Curtis Mai of Corpus Christi, Jason Mai and wife Theresa, Nathan Mai and wife Jenae all of San Antonio, Stanley Maresch and wife Surena of Ballinger; and one daughter Tamara Jo Dominguez and favorite son-in-law Juan of Snyder; two brothers, Larry Schneider and wife Marcia, Todd Schneider and wife Kim, all of Great Bend, KS; one sister, Sally Davis and husband Matthew of Early, TX; and dear cousin Elda K. Russom of Wichita, KS; twelve grandchildren; Inez (Mai) Barnes, Aubrey Mai, Blake Mai, Mallory Mai, Garret Mai, Claire Mai, Johnny Dean Maresch, Hunter Wheeler, Damian Maresch, Jazlyn Maresch, Kathryn Jo Dominguez, Rhyse Dominguez; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brynleigh Wheeler, and another expected in January of 2023: nieces, Sarah (Davis) Ethridge, Lindyn (Davis) Gowdy, Brandi (Schneider) Montes, and Heather Schneider; and nephew David Schneider.
