Patsy Ruth (Crawford) Mapes, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Central Texas Nursing in Ballinger, Texas.
Patsy was born on Friday, April 7, 1933, to Gene and Louise (Oliver) Crawford in Ballinger. As Louise passed early in Patsy’s life, she was lovingly raised by her step-mother Iola (Clayton) Crawford. She graduated from Ballinger High School and went on to attend college at Tarleton State. She married the love of her life, Charles Dexter Mapes, on April 5, 1952, at the First Christian Church of Ballinger. Patsy was incredibly creative and loved to sew, make beautiful ceramics, cross-stitch, and crochet. During their many years together in Crane, she was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Crane, and of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gene, Louise, and Iola; her daughter Mary Leigh Estoll; her son Mark Mapes; and grandson Casey Ryan Boothe.
Patsy is survived by her husband Charles, daughters Teresa Lynn Barlett and husband Bart of Ballinger, Laurie Jane Stark and husband Wayne of Christoval; her grandchildren Jason Stark of Snyder, Terilyn Bowman and husband Cord of Ballinger, Jeremy Stark and wife Patty of Plano, Christan Estoll of Odessa, and Korri Lange and husband Ty of Rowena. She also survived by her sisters Mary Lou Lacy of San Angelo, and Gloriana Tadlock and husband Richard of Stephenville; as well as her brother Jim Crawford and wife Martha of Ballinger. Patsy is remembered by her 7 great-grandchildren and 2 nieces as well.
Visitation for Patsy will be held Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 10:00 am Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, with Pastor David Evans officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in Patsy’s honor. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time.
