Paula Rebecca Hite-Smith

Paula Rebecca Hite-Smith passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Paula was born June 29, 1966, to Paul and Elaine Hite in Miles, Texas.  She loved to fish, sing, and dance from an early age.  She attended Miles School District and graduated in 1984.  After high school, she attended Court Stenographer School in Abilene, Texas, and then went to work for the Tom Green County Court System until 2002 when she was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and was no longer able to work.  She made many friends during her time there and loved her job.

Paula fought this cancer battle for over twenty years.  She never complained and continued to enjoy time with her children, family, and friends. Paul and Elaine cared for Paula in their home for many years with the help of family and friends.  After she was no longer able to live at home, Paula lived in Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until the Lord called her home.

Paula is survived by her two sons who were the love of her life, Zack Smith of Grape Creek, Texas, and Garrett Smith and partner Ana Corona of Ft. Worth, Texas, as well as her two grandsons, Dean Smith and Riley Smith.

She is also survived by her loving parents, Paul and Elaine Hite; her brother, Doug Hite and wife Stephanie; and her sister, Shana Wanoreck and husband Gary.  Nieces and nephews are Tanner Hite and wife Rachel, Kaci Gully and husband Eric, Jessica VanPelt and husband Guy, and Joby Tolbert.

Paula is preceded in death by grandparents, Gus and Linda Klaus and James and Mary Hovorak Hite, and nephew Douglas Gage Hite.

Special thanks to her niece Kaci Hite Gully for taking care of Paula over the last few years and supporting Paul and Elaine with Paula’s care.

Many thanks go out to Hospice of Ballinger and Central Texas Nursing Home for their special and loving care over the years.

A visitation will be held at Lange Funeral Home on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Miles, Texas.  Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery.
