Refugio “Alonso” Salas, 75, of Ballinger, formally from Plains, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Shannon Medical Center.
He was born on October 17, 1947, to Edwardo and Margarita (Mindieta) Salas in Lamesa, Texas. Alonso worked in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He was known to love to “cut a rug” and was a loyal Texas Rangers fan. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. Always had a smile on his face and loved to joke around. His children would like to Thank All the staff at Central Texas Nursing and Rehab for loving on Dad and making his day.
Alonso is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Oralia (Lala) Ramirez, Eva Conde, Ofelia Garza brother Valdo Salas.
Those left here to cherish his memory are his daughters, Andrea Mares and husband Mario, Patsy Salas; son Greg Salas and wife Luz; grandchildren Luz Andrea Salas, Nathaniel Isiah Salas, Alexa Noemi Reyes; great-granddaughter Analeese Dion Shaw; and a special ‘nugget” on the way. Siblings; Janie Garcia, Yolanda Rodriguez, Hortensia Chavarria, Tony (Maria) Salas, Robert (Esmeralda) Salas.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 5:00 pm with the Rosary to begin at 6:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday. July 19, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Sea of the Star Church in Ballinger.
