Richard "Rick" Wing

Richard Wing, 74, passed away at his home in Ballinger, Texas, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Richard was born on December 21, 1949, in Kenilworth, Utah, to Richard & Connie (Elliott) Wing. Ricky was raised mostly in the town of Springville UT. He was in Springville High’s Class of 1967. Afterwards, he joined the Army, where he excelled. Stationed in Germany for 4 years, Rick became the youngest E-5 of his company. After an honorable discharge, he went on to work at O’Brien Metal Salvage, where he learned the uses for metal and met his wife, Susan O’Brien. With Sue, they had 2 sons that they raised in Salem UT.

He would go on to work at the Pipe Plant, Loudermilk Const, Nebo School, & Payson Nursing and Rehab for 20 years, where he met & later married Lisa Williams. Rick & Lisa moved from Utah to Texas after his retirement in 2017. They bought a house in Ballinger. Rick worked very hard on the remodeling of the home, but it was not Utah. He loved Utah & the seasons. The mountains were where he wanted to spend his free time. He was his best self in the mountains, especially at his cabin up Loafer Canyon. Rick had many passions in life. Travel, fishing, hunting, playing card games & puzzles. He had many skills when it came to building, remodeling & fabricating metal. Later in life, he doted on his 3 furry girls: Lila, Pipa, & Cru. He had 8 wonderful years to spoil them, & they were his constant companions after his retirement. Rick loved his family & extended family. He never met a stranger. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle & husband.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Wing.

He is also survived by his children & grandchildren: Obie (Colette)Wing & GC Rikee Wing; Derrick [deceased](Jessica) Wing & GC Dakota (Alexis) Wing, Carlie Wing; Stepchildren Mindy Glass (David Gutierrez), GC Chloe Gutierrez (Isac Ramirez), Ryan Gutierrez; Christopher (Terra) Glass, GC Preston Glass, Tobias Glass; Brandon Williams, GC Xoe Williams, Brynlee Williams; Cynthia Brady, GC Symon Hinojos, Evalynn Hinojos, Adelynn Brady, Wilson Johnson. Siblings: Linda (Calvin) McCausland, Terry (Vickie) Wing, plus many nieces & nephews that enjoyed Rick’s company.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Jim Mendenhall, parents-in-law Frank (LaRhea) O’Brien, sister Nancy (Bob) Devey, brother David Wing, wife Susan Wing & his son Derrick Wing.
