Robert James Jordan

January 15, 1943 — February 27, 2020

Robert James Jordan, 77, of San Angelo, passed away February 27, 2020. Arrangements for cremation and burial at sea are pending.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Jordan, son Milton Howard Jordan, daughter Christina Renate’ Jordan, and daughter of the heart Stacey Jane Hales-Terry Marshall, who all currently reside in San Angelo, TX. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins make their homes mostly in his home state of Kansas.

Robert’s parents Milton James Jordan and Helen Edith Arnold Jordan, along with his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Linda Jordan, preceded him in death.

Robert’s fascination with the US Navy began when he was born on January 15, 1943, during WWII, at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL.  He grew up in the community of Arkansas City, KS, surrounded by extensive family. When old enough, he joined the Navy, where he truly saw the world. He “did not want to make a career of it” so he “only stayed 30 years.” During that time, he served aboard 6 ships, had 4 shore commands, and visited 115 countries. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. The highlight of his early career was when a crew came aboard the USS St Paul, where he and his brother were stationed, to make the movie “In Harm’s Way”. He was absolutely thrilled to work with John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, and others. Upon retirement, he graduated from the College of Charleston in SC. Base closure brought the family to San Angelo where he had multiple “hobby” jobs before committing to the SA Lake and Park Police, from which he again retired. Afterwards, he and his wife had the most glorious years touring the USA in their RV. Robert was an avid reader, wonderful cook, and loved to watch almost any cop show on tv.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered for the American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth, Mitt, Christy, and Stacey would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and most especially those at Kindred At Home, Solaris Hospice, and Shannon, for their compassionate care during this journey.
