He was born on September 8, 1964, to Robert Jerome and Jeanette Pauline (Hirt) Kohutek, Sr., in Big Spring, Texas, but was raised by his mother-in-life, Betty Kohutek.  He married the love of his life Jera Lynn Hayes in 1988, and together they shared over 35 beautiful years before his passing.  Robby was a man of God and a practical joker who loved his family above all things.  His six dogs, affectionately known as “The Goober Crew” come in close second place.  Robby was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and his truck.  He could be found cheering for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs and was an avid NASCAR fan.  Robby was an incredible storyteller, preacher, and pilot.  He was #1 cheer Papa and lifetime golden hoof pick holder.  Famous for his “Kohutek rigged” capabilities and “concoctions” in the kitchen.  He took pride in his cooking and was so very proud of all his grandkids.  He was a hero and mentor to so many, the life of the party, and will be forever remembered as the Big Kid out there amongst all the littles right in the mix of the fun and almost always the instigator to the fun.

Robby is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jeanette, and his brother-in-law Bobby Maxie.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Kohutek; his wife of 35 years, Jera Lynn; his daughters, Lora Brown and husband Jarrod of Midland, and Kara Mathews and husband Luke of Riverdale, California.  Robby will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Koen Hart, Ledger Hart, Leighton (Gus) Brown, Nash Brown, Boone Moody, and Macy Mathews.  He will be dearly remembered by his siblings, Melissa Slusher and spouse Dana, Dana Routh and husband Larry, Cheryl Maxie, Stacy Kohutek, and Tina Gothard and spouse Butch.

A celebration of life will be held for Robby on Saturday, September 9, 2023. At Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas, at 2:00 p.m., with Tallian Thompson officiating.  A private family burial will occur at a later date.
