Sandra Regina Reeves (Demler)

Sandra Regina (Demler) Reeves, 80, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Abilene, Texas.

Sandra was born on November 4, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas to E.H. and Elise (Hilton) Demler.  She was the middle child of five.  She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1961.

Sandra married in August of 1965.  She had two children, Lisa (Carson) Rowlett and Walter (Joey) Joseph Carson IV.  The family relocated to Ballinger in 1973.  Sandra provided at-home childcare soon after arriving in Ballinger.  She eventually established an independent licensed daycare facility employing a full-time staff and caring for up to 35 children.  She enjoyed caring for children in Ballinger for many years.

Sandra relocated to Abilene, Texas in 1983.  It is there that she met her husband second husband, Wendell Jess Reeves.  During her time in Abilene Sandra enjoyed retail sales at Sears and Dillard’s.  She also returned to work with children through the Day Nursery of Abilene harkening back to her desire to care for children.  Wendell and Sandra eventually purchased a “home place” in View, Texas where they enjoyed chickens, donkeys, and all the benefits of country living.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Demler, a brother Roy Demler, her husband Wendell Reeves, and a grandson L.J. Nitsch.

Sandra is survived by her brother Eddie Demler of Bridge City, Texas, sister Patricia Hadden of Austin, Texas and her younger brother Rockne Demler of Wailuku, Hawaii, a daughter, Lisa (Carson) Rowlett and husband Brett; son, Walter (Joey) J. Carson IV, grandchildren Bear, Meagan, Garrett, and Hayden and 9 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Sandra on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas with Myron Halford officiating.
