Santos Pena Gonzales

Mr. Santos Pena Gonzales, Sr., age 90, went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 8, 2020, at Shannon Medical Center.

Santos was born on April 20, 1930, in Mexico to Julian Pena Estrada and Francisca Gonzales Perez.  He was married for 67 years to his devoted wife Felipa Mendoza.  He grew up with three sisters, Antonia Pena Gonzales (deceased), Julia Pena Gonzales, and Maria Pena Gonzales, and three brothers, Rafael Pena Gonzales (deceased), Jose Pena Gonzales (deceased), and Jesus Pena Gonzales.

He leaves behind four sons, Manuel Pena, Sr., Francisco Pena, Santos Pena, Jr., and Ambrocio Pena; and three daughters, Antonia Martinez Pena, Angelina Macias Pena, and Lidia Pena Torres.  He also leaves behind 31 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, Armani Denise Pena.

He made his way to the United States in 1975 to give his family a better life.  He has worked from a young age up until the day he passed.  His work ethic was inspiring to all.  He worked hard every day before sunrise to sunset.  He loved his animals, his cattle, and his goats.  He loved being outdoors, either farming or ranching.  He disliked cloudy, stormy, or cold days, where he had to stay indoors.  His favorite thing to do was to dance.  He was never too tired or too busy to dance and would never turn down a dancing partner.  He constantly worried and asked about each and every one of his kids and grandkids.  He was the ROCK to his family.

A Rosary will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at 6:00 pm, at the Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger, Texas.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020, at 10:00 am, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas.  Burial will follow at Latin American Cemetery, Ballinger, Texas.
