Tommy Carré, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and amazing friend passed away Tuesday morning August 17, 2021. He was 73 years young.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Carré, his children, Jennifer and James Vaughn of Arkansas, Donnie Stewart of North Richland Hills, TX, Krystal Stewart of Aledo, TX, and Stephanie and Tim Donovan of Austin, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Ronnie and Debbie Carré of Loco Hills, NM, in-laws Teri and Walt Dieterich of Midland, TX, Jim and Sandy Tucker of Midland, TX, Liz and Carl Mitten of Granbury, TX, Steve and Theresa Tucker of Anson, TX, Tom Tucker of Coleman, TX, and Stephana and Marc Sanderson of Talpa, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marjorie Carré, brother Alan Carré, parents-in-law in-law, Roy and Juanita Tucker, and brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Shirley Tucker.
Born in Hobbs, NM on February 23, 1948, Tommy was a graduate of Artesia High School, Class of 1967, then spent six years in the Army National Guard. He moved to Midland, TX in 1972 where he resided for nearly 50 years before retiring to Coleman, TX in 2018. Tommy had a 50+ year career in the West Texas and Southeast New Mexico oil and gas fields. Passionate about photography, he captured the West Texas sunrises frequently as he traveled through the dirt roads, farm roads, and back roads of the oil fields.
A confirmed Catholic and member of St. Stephens Church in Midland, Tommy and Mary lived to serve others. Together, they have supported charitable organizations like St. Vincent de Paul, the Native American communities in northern New Mexico, Wounded Warriors, and supported Brandon in San Salvador for the last 10 years through an international non-profit, Unbound.
Family and friends are invited to attend services Friday, August 20 with a viewing beginning at 9 am and then services starting at 10 am at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, TX. Services will include a rosary, mass, then a graveside service at Santa Ana Cemetery, in Santa Ana, TX.
