Vernon P. Hoelscher, 90, of Olfen, passed away February 13, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 31, 1934 to Joachim (Jake) and Elsie (Halfmann) Hoelscher.
He married Cornell Halfmann on February 9, 1956. They spent 69 years together. They made their home in Olfen on their 30 acres in the early 1970’s where they raised six children. He was drafted into the Army in 1956 and spent 18 months in Germany. After that he farmed and worked as a mechanic for Bailey Ford, in parts at Byler Motors, a dozer operator for Byler Dozers, in parts for Sneed Agri-Business, and farmed for Leoran Hoelscher before retiring. He has been a 50+ year member of the Olfen Knights of Columbus and spent six years on the Olfen School Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Daniel, Dutch (Jerome), Anita, Jim (Kenneth), and Nick (Gerald). He was also preceded in death by his in-laws Ben J. and Sarah Halfmann and numerous brother and sister-in-laws. He also lost his son-in-law Charlie Williams, three grandchildren Monica and Wade Parramore and Wayne Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Cornell, and children Christine (John) Parramore, Howard (Becky LV) Hoelscher, Bryan Hoelscher, Darla Williams, June Hoelscher, and Russell (Sandra) Hoelscher. Also surviving are his grandchildren Briana, Victoria, Alex, Julia, TJ, Crystal, Rachel & Ashton, Jacob, Stephanie & Zach, and Connor as well as five great grandchildren. He has one surviving brother Pat (Virgil), many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen at 6:00 P.M on Sunday, February 16th. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17th, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen at 10:00 A.M. with Father Ariel Lagunilla officiating, followed by burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Boniface Cemetery Fund in Olfen, in Vernon's honor.
