Vicenta Pena Flores

Vicenta Pena Flores, 92, of Ballinger passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

She was born on March 18, 1929, to Manuel and Maria (Valdez) Pena in Paint Rock, Texas.  On April 25 ^th , 1946 she married the love of her life Henry V Flores in Ballinger, Texas, and together they shared 53 beautiful years together before his passing on July 14, 1999.  Vicenta loved dancing, and good music, especially anything with an accordion in it.  She also made beautiful quilts for her friends and family.  Vicenta was the best cook and made homemade tamales and tortillas. She was feisty and loved to joke. Her family is left with lots of fond memories.

Vicenta is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Maria Pena, her husband Henry, her children Henry Jr., Jesus, and Raquel, her grandson Abel Aguilar, her great-grandson William Thompson, and her siblings Maria, Jose, Audon, and Demetrio.

She is survived by her children, Daughter-in-law Sandra, Oralia Aguilar and husband Dario, Erlinda F. Sauceda and husband Gregorio, Ortencia Garza and husband Robert, Erminia Gonzalez, Martin Flores and wife Debbie, Romelia Cardoza, Johnny Flores, and wife Lori, Daniel Flores and wife Beatrice, Paul Flores, and Esmeralda Ochoa and husband Steven.  Vicenta is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly remembered by her siblings Olivia Patino, and Manuel Pena Jr.

A rosary will be held for Vicenta on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 6:00 pm at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home.  Her Mass of Christian burial will be the following morning on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas with Father Yesu Mulakaleti celebrating.  Interment will follow at the Latin American Cemetery.
