Fannie “Wendy” Norine (Kay) Scrivener, 74, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.
She was born on January 17, 1948, to Johnnie Elmo and Frances Geraldine (Johnson) Kay, Sr. in Pleasanton, Texas. On April 28, 1986, she married James Edward Scrivener, Jr. at a ceremony in Ballinger, Texas and together they shared over 36 years before her passing. Wendy had an incredible personality, a smile that would light up a room, and a laugh that was infectious. The holidays were always her favorite, as she loved to decorate. At Christmas time she worked meticulously to build her Christmas village that she had hand-painted herself. Even as she became ill, Wendy was a real fighter and fought a tough battle until the end. She was also a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Ballinger, Texas.
Wendy is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Frances Kay, Sr., her sister Jeanne M. Kay-Walters, brother Norbert O. Kay, daughter Karen Robertson, and daughter-in-law Carolyn Scrivener.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Edward Scrivener, Jr., her daughter Lisa Lee Robertson, sons Tom and Jonathan Scrivener, step-sons Steven and Bryon Scrivener, several grandkids and great-grandkids, and daughters-in-law Frances and Ginger Scrivener. Wendy is also survived by her brothers Johnny Kay, Jr, and Gerald Kay.
A service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity in Wendy’s name.
