Bobby Colvin Maxie, 63, of Garden City, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Paint Rock, Texas.
He was born on October 25, 1957, to Arvil and Jewell Maxie in Rankin, Texas. On June 29, 1975, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Kohutek in Big Lake and they moved to Garden City to raise their family. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with family at his “happy place” by Lake Ivie. Most recently, Bobby was an Advisor for Pioneer Natural Resources after a successful career in the oilfield for over 45 years. He was known as the man without a filter and would tell the truth no matter what. Above all, Bobby’s greatest love was his family, and was “Pap” to his grandchildren that adored him.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Arvil and Jewell, and his brothers Wayne and David Maxie.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl, his daughters LeeAnn Farmer and husband Tony of Tuscola, Tiffany Walts and husband Cody of Garden City, Dendra Whisman and husband Cory of Greenwood, and his son Shaun Maxie of Dallas. Bobby is lovingly remembered as well by his grandchildren Shelby Farmer, Kylee Whisman, Talon Farmer, Ty Farmer, Blain Walts, Brody Walts, Westyn Whisman, and Holdyn Whisman. He is also survived by his sisters Mae Chick, Linda Morse, Debra Bolen, and brothers Sam Starnes, Charles Starnes, and multiple nieces and nephews.
A public viewing for Bobby will be held before his service at Lange Funeral Home, located at 1910 Hutchins Ave, Ballinger, Texas, on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Service will follow at 10:00 am, with Cheryl’s brother, Robby Kohutek, as the officiant. Interment will follow at the Concho Cemetery on FM 1929 in Paint Rock.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local charity of your choice.
