The structure for the original Lange Funeral Home was built in 1909 by R.B. Creasy as a family residence, and it was one of the finer homes in Ballinger. Mr. E.E. King purchased the home in 1933 and converted it into a funeral home. At the time, it was known as King-Holt Funeral Home. The funeral home was then sold to C.A. (Allen) Davis and G.E.(George) Newby in 1944 and became Newby-Davis Funeral Home. In 1960, Mr. Davis purchased Mr. Newby’s interest in the business and became the sole owner. In 1976, the funeral home was then sold to Billy J. Seale out of Snyder, Texas. Mr. Seale recruited Darrell Rains to operate the funeral home, and the name was then changed to Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Rains purchased Mr. Seale’s interest in the business in 1984. The name Rains-Seale remained until the funeral home was purchased by a long-time employee and his wife, Larry and Rebbie Lange. It is now proudly named Lange Funeral Home and has moved to a new location on Hutchings Ave, across from Mueller's. Since Rebbie's passing in 2023, Larry has retired from his position as director and embalmer and has passed the torch to his daughter-in-law, Gillian Lange (wife of son Ryan Lange). For the last four years, she has operated as General Manager and has made it her mission to serve families with the same love and tender compassion as her predecessor.
